Alachua County Youth of the Year Nominee

On Tuesday, June 25, Alachua County Youth of the Year Nominee Alisha Clayton and her family visited Saxon, Gilmore, Carraway & Gibbons, P.A.. Alisha currently lives with her mother and siblings in public housing in Gainesville and has managed to accomplish a great deal in spite of a number of challenges. She is a straight A student and is going into the 9th grade at P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School (the laboratory school associated with the University of Florida).

Alisha one day hopes to own her own law firm, and said her visit to Saxon Gilmore was a great opportunity. After meeting with attorneys Ric Gilmore, Rhonda Stringer, Bernice Saxon and Richard Asfar, Alisha and her family were escorted to the George E. Edgecomb Courthouse by attorney Suzanne DeCopain. There they observed a trial, something Alisha had never experienced before.

Saxon Gilmore is honored to have had the chance to provide Alisha with exposure to the practice of law. All of us who had the opportunity to meet Alisha agree that she has a very bright future.
