John B. Gibbons serves as “Of Counsel” to Saxon|Gilmore. He is a native of Tampa who specializes in the areas of commercial real estate, corporate and business transactions, and probate and estate planning. Mr. Gibbons received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974 and his J.D. degree from the University of Florida, with high honors, in 1977. While in law school, Mr. Gibbons served as Executive Editor of the University of Florida Law Review. He is a member of the prestigious honor societies of Phi Kappa Phi and the Order of the Coif. After law school, Mr. Gibbons served as a research aide to the Supreme Court of Florida and as a staff attorney to the Florida Constitution Revision Commission.
During his professional career Mr. Gibbons has represented developers of master planned communities, and condominium and fractional ownership projects in all aspects of the development process. He has extensive experience in the areas of real estate development, public-private partnerships, and planned development projects requiring negotiation and drafting of complex financial documents, and has worked hand-in-hand with developers of large scale real estate projects to structure the transactions.
He is a member of the Florida Bar and admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Florida, the
United States court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a former member of the Board of Governors, Young Lawyers Section, of the Florida Bar. During his more than 35 years of practice, Mr. Gibbons has developed extensive experience in appellate practice and has litigated numerous civil and business matters in state and federal courts. Mr. Gibbons is rated AV Preeminent in the Martindale-Hubbell law directory, the highest possible rating for legal excellence and ethical standards.
