Florida lawmakers have been considering legislation that would make it easier to foreclose on abandoned properties.

Florida has one of the nation’s “largest backlogs of foreclosure cases: 360,000.” Florida state lawmakers are finding new ways to unclog this backlog. Recently, Florida lawmakers have been considering legislation that would make it easier to foreclose on abandoned properties. This article discusses the various ways in which these potential new laws will speed up the foreclosure process. The article also discusses the circumstances under which these new laws would apply and the foreseeable impact that the laws would have on Florida’s judicial system, on lenders, and on consumers and other homeowners.   Read more…
